Jeff Tweedy is a busy man
From the (mostly) good news and bad news department. Wilco are already working on the follow-up to last year's a A Ghost Is Born. This will be the first Wilco record to feature the work of multi-instrumenetalist Pat Sansone and guitar abuser yet lover Nels Cline, the man who made it cool to have a million foot-pedals in front of him during a concert, the post-post-punk Alex Lifeson.
But wait folks, that's not all. Even better, plans are also afoot for new Loose Fur and Golden Smog records. I just got into Loose Fur record, having somehow missed it when it came out in early 2003, though I remember hearing "If Not For the Seasons" at a Wilco show in Jan. '03 and liking it. For some unknown reason, the song was renamed "Laminated Cat" when it was put on the Loose Fur album, but it's still an epic song.
Now for the small bit of bad Wilco-related news. Apparently their live DVD has been canceled. It was going to be directed by the same guy who did I Am Trying to Break Your Heart. Too bad, but most concert videos are pretty superfluous anyway. I'll take new Wilco and Golden Smog records any day.
